I am so pleased to be introducing you to a lady we are celebrating in Crafter’s Spotlight today. Hallie Sue Wells is one creative entrepreneur. Hallie Sue tapped into her creative talents some time ago as a hair stylist and now as a floral designer, creating beautiful wreaths as well as floral arrangements.
Hi, I am Hallie Sue Wells. I offer exceptional handmade wreath designs to give your home a fresh breath of new beauty and style while welcoming your family, friends, and guests. My shop has been open for a few years now but I haven’t given it the time or attention it deserves. I have decided to jump in with both feet and build my talents and business to a new level.
I have recently retired after a rewarding career of twenty-five years as a Cardiovascular Nurse. At first, I felt as though I were losing my own personal identity but soon realized that there was much more in life that I wanted to do. Sometimes we girls just wanna Have Fun! Doing what we love!
I had already been creating wreaths and floral arrangements for friends and co-workers who were very complimentary and encouraged me to start doing it as a business. I would hang a beautiful wreath of the season on our Unit to cheer up the staff and patient’s families since all of our reasons for being there were not always pleasant. Soon even the patient’s families wanted to buy my wreaths. Not only did I have the reward of taking care of their loved one but also an added compliment to my creativity!
My love for design began many years ago before I became a Nurse. Once upon a time, soon after high school, I became a Hair Stylist (what a combination, huh). That allowed me to use and show off my creative talents with new hair styles and color. Having a Salon in my own home also gave me the privilege of being at home with my three children and brings in an income at the same time.
Growing up as one of four Air Force “brats”, I mean children; I had the good fortune of living in many different areas of the U.S. and Japan. (Needless to say I “disliked” every move we made at the time.)
Now, I can say I am inspired by all of the wonders I’ve seen, from the gorgeous bluegrass hills of my old Kentucky home to the Beauty of the majestic Magnolia trees, the sweetness of Gardenia blooms and white sands of the Florida beaches with their emerald waters and on to the colorful elegance of the silky oriental designed Kimonos of the Geisha Girls with their bright delicate umbrellas surrounded by the unique architecture of the Japanese Tea Houses and Gardens. Remembering all of this, who wouldn’t be inspired! See, I told you this started a long time ago.
I am now a Grandma of four wonderful Grandchildren, two cute boys, one handsome young man, and one beautiful young lady. After nine moves in my life, I now live in the little Historic Town of Newburgh, Indiana just across the Ohio River not far from where I started. Newburgh is full of quaint little shops, antique stores, delicious Cafés and friendly people and I love it!
I have sold my wreaths and arrangements in one of those quaint gift shops here in Newburgh for a time and have been doing a lot of upscale craft shows all over the tri-state area with my sister Linda, who makes Beautiful Reborn Dolls among other things which you may see in our shop from time to time. Of course, you can guess where the name “Sisters Floral and Gift” originated.
We have been featured in Cedarhurst, Illinois Center for the Arts Magazine and helped in decorating The Historic Reitz Home Museum in Evansville, Indiana for their Christmas tours. My designs have been featured in other area venues from political banquets to honoring our fallen heroes in Law Enforcement and home and office decorating.
Now, launching a new venture or should I say adventure by opening an Etsy Shop I have the perfect opportunity to Have Fun creating handmade designs especially with your unique style in mind! Browse my shop often to see new designs and special offers or make a request for a custom made creation just for you.
